India shines at the Commonwealth Games 2022, winning 13 medals in Birmingham. Nearly 200 Indian competitors will be vying for gold in 16 different sports from July 28 to August 8 at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Lovely Choubey, Rupa Rani Tirkey, Pinki, and Nayanmoni Saikia made history by defeating South Africa (17-10) in the Lawn Bowls final to win the nation’s first-ever medal in the sport. Vijay Thakur’s silver medal in the men’s 96kg category added to India’s eight medals in the weightlifting competition at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, continuing the nation’s mastery in the sport.

The Indian men’s table tennis team overcame Singapore to earn their second consecutive gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, continuing the medal fervor. Harmeet Desai, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, and Sharath Kamal Achanta’s squad made significant comebacks to win 3-1.

India has won more than 500 medals in the Commonwealth Games in its previous 18 appearances, including 181 gold medals. At the 2010 CWG, which was held in India, they performed at their best. They were second overall in the 2010 CWG medal count with 101 medals earned.

Mirabai Chanu : Gold medal (Weightlifting, Women’s 49kg class) : Manipur’s star weightlifter, Mirabai Chanu, won India’s first gold medal with a record-breaking performance in which she broke four world records on July 30, 2022, in Birmingham.

Jeremy Lalrinnunga : Gold medal (Weightlifting, Men’s 67kg) : On day three of the Commonwealth Games, on July 31, Mizoram’s golden boy Jeremy Lalrinnunga clinched the second gold medal, propelling India to the top six on the medal table and maintaining the nation’s stronghold in the weightlifting field.

Achinta Sheuli – Gold medal (Weightlifting, Men’s 73kg) : Weightlifter Achinta Sheuli Achinta Sheuli achieved his high expectations by winning India’s third gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Bidyarani Devi-Silver medal (Weightlifting, Women’s 55kg class) : Weightlifter Bindyarani Devi from Manipur won silver in the women’s 55kg event, keeping India’s medal rush at the Commonwealth Games.

Sanket Mahadev Sargar-Silver medal (Weightlifting, Men’s 55kg class) : Sanket Sargar, an Indian weightlifter, won silver in the men’s 55kg division at the Commonwealth Games to start his nation’s medal tally.

Vikas Thakur: Silver medal in 96kg : Vikas Thakur, an Indian heavyweight lifter, won silver in the men’s 96kg event on Tuesday to add yet another medal to his collection. The seasoned Thakur finished in second place and won his third CWG medal in three editions with a total lift of 346kg (155kg+191kg).

Gururaja Poojary-Bronze (Weightlifting, Men’s 61kg class) : P. Gururaja won bronze in the men’s 61 kg weight division at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022 on July 30.

Judoka Shushila-Silver medal (Judo, women’s 48 kg class) : Shushila, 27, battled valiantly but ultimately fell to South African Michaela Whitebooi in the 4.25-minute final through “Waza-Ari.”

Vijay Kumar Yadav – Bronze (Judo, men’s 60kg class) : The 26-year-old Yadav, on the other hand, put up an exceptional performance, capitalising on his opponent’s slip-up to lock him down for 10 seconds and end the match in just 58 seconds.

Harjinder Kaur – Bronze (Weightlifting, women, 71kg) : After a thrilling finish in the women’s 71kg weightlifting category at the Commonwealth Games, India’s Harjinder Kaur won the bronze medal.
