In a renewed thrust to the probe into the coal syndicates across the state, five officials arrested in connection with the coal syndicate scam have been sent to 14-day judicial custody.
Meanwhile police have also been asked to file the case diary within the seven days time. The CID had earlier arrested five officers after calling them to its headquarters in Guwahati on Tuesday.
The arrested officers are Kathgora CO Manjur Elahi Borbhuyan, Silchar MVI Biswajit Bhattacharjee, and tax officials Babul Mondal, Sajal Das and Anjan Jyoti Bora. The officials are accused of procuring coal without proper challans.
