Culture, traditions of NE impresses Thai visitors at NE India Fest

The Northeast India Festival marks India’s 75 years of Independence and diplomatic relationship with Thailand.

The ongoing 2nd North East India festival in Bangkok, Thailand has drawn a lot of attention over the duration of the festival.

Local Thai visitors were pleasantly surprised and impressed to witness the wide array of culture, traditions, clothes, and foods from the northeast.

The Northeast India Festival marks India’s 75 years of Independence and diplomatic relationship with Thailand.

The festival is aimed at further connecting the 2 countries with age-old social and cultural relations, shared history, and ethnicity.

The event has been organized to make Northeast India the connecting bridge with Southeast Asia.

Earlier on Saturday, the event was inaugurated by Thailand Deputy Prime Minister Jurin Lak-Sana-wi-sit in the presence of Indian ambassador to Thailand RK Ranjan Singh, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy CM of Arunachal Pradesh Chow-na Mein, Assam Cabinet Minister UG Brahma and other dignitaries from the region and beyond.

And on the sidelines of the Northeast India Festival in Bangkok, fruits and vegetables from the states of the Northeast are making their presence in the markets there.

Food items such as pineapples, orkas, and bitter gourds are appearing in the markets of Bangkok and are being exported in large quantities.

Meanwhile, Assam cabinet minister Jogen Mohan took a tour of the markets of Bangkok and inspected the export items from Assam on display there.
