Arunachal: Eviction drive at Namdapha National Park to remove illegal settlers

The Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve in Arunachal Pradesh’s Chaglang district has been under the illegal occupation of illegal settlers who have settled inside the area of the National Park, a protected area under the Wildlife Protection Act.

Hence, to remove the illegal settlers, the Namdapha National Park authorities have carried out a series of eviction drives with assistance from the Miao Sub Divisional Administration and security forces.

Speaking to Northeast Live, the Field Director of Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve, Aduk Paron said that the park authorities have served notices to the concerned illegal encroachers but they neither dismantled their settlements nor followed any instruction.

The Field officer while stating that the Forest Department has so far evicted 12 illegal settlements, said that he has also instructed officials concerned to immediately report any illegal settlements which might still exist in the Namdapha National Park.
