Just a day after Northeast Live aired reports of poor road conditions along the Trans-Arunachal Highway from Potin to Pangin of Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has finally decided to look into the matter.
Taking cognizance of the deteriorating condition of the roads, the Deputy Chief Minister called for an urgent meeting with the Chief Engineers. The development comes a day after the All Yachuli Students Union resorted to a dawn to dusk shutdown in the Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh.
After obtaining detailed informations from the officers, Chowna Mein instructed the Chief Engineer for immediate re-tendering for repair & maintenance work of the Phase-I from Pai-Pine Groove, Daporijo-Dumporijo & Bame-Pangin and also for tendering of the Phase-II from Ziro-Daporijo and Dumporijo-Bame including a road under Kamle District.
He however, asked the engineers to take up the repair and maintenance work in places where the roads are in really bad shape to make it at least convenient for traffic movement. He further asked the department to complete the tendering process within this month, so that the repair & maintenance work can be completed before the on-set of monsoon.
Meanwhile, the All Yachuli Students Union is likely to have a meeting with its Union members in Itanagar.
