Army Special Forces and Assam Rifles commandos busted a major NSCN-IM base in Sonking village of Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district from where the rebels were carrying out massive extortion and terror campaigns in the area.
The operations on Thursday portrays a clear message of the government’s intolerance against such criminal activities by the NSCN-IM.
The army action came in response to specific intelligence inputs that the NSCN-IM and an assortment of other rebel groups are active in the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border trying to raise funds to continue with their guerilla campaigns.
