Four students hailing from Assam who were stranded in Ukraine arrived at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International airport in Guwahati yesterday evening. Upon reaching back in Assam, the students heaved a sigh of relief and also narrated their experience in war torn Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Centre has dispatched teams comprising officials of the Ministry of External Affairs to the land borders with Ukraine to evacuate Indian nationals from the war-torn country. The MEA teams will be operating from land borders with Ukraine in Hungary, Poland, the Slovak Republic, and Romania.

Meanwhile, the Embassy of India in Kyiv has written to the government of Ukraine for the safety and security of Indian students.

India’s evacuation efforts in Ukraine have started to bore with students and others stranded in Ukraine returning back safely to India. Yesterday evening, a large number of Indian students returned back to India safely with special flights landing at the IGI airport in New Delhi.

Notably, many more Indians are still stranded in Ukraine even as Russia continues to advance with its war operations. With close to 24,000 Indians still stranded in Ukraine, most of whom are students, their family members and parents are worried about their safety and have appealed to the centre to get them back home safely as soon as possible.
