As per inputs close to 100 students from Assam are stranded in Ukraine, students from other NE states like Sikkim are also stranded in the war hit nation.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the state government is in touch with the students and as and when the Indian Embassy makes arrangements to evacuate Indians, the students from Assam will also be airlifted.
Meanwhile, 10 MBBS students from Assam who are stuck at the Sumy state university at Sumy Oblast in Ukraine have sought Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s help. The students studying medicine are stuck inside the university campus.
Meanwhile, the Indian embassy at Kyiv has issued an advisory to all Indian nationals that alternative arrangements are being made for their evacuation with the Ukrainian air space closed currently.
The Embassy has also advised the Indian Nationals to follow the Embassy website and social media post for further updates on this regards. The embassy further advised all the indian nationals to carry passports and necessary documents all times. Helpline numbers have alos been issued to assist the Indian nationals in Ukraine.
