The 40th Agartala Book Fair will start from March 25 till April 5 with the theme ‘Amar Tripura, Amar Gharva’ or ‘My Tripura, My Pride’. This was informed by the ICA minister, Sushanta Chowdhury yesterday.

Chowdhury said the fair has been delayed by around a month due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The second preparatory meeting and the 1st meeting of the steering committee for the 40th Agartala Book Fair was organised yesterday at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Jail and Minority Welfare Minister Ramprashad Paul, senior officials of the ICA department, representatives of publishers, writers, artists and booksellers attended the meeting.

Addressing the media ICA minister, Sushanta Chowdhury said that various eminent personalities from WB, Bangladesh and all Northeastern states are going to participate in it.

Meanwhile, around 150 stalls with publishers and booksellers from Kolkata, Guwahati, Delhi and Dhaka are likely to participate in the fair which is the second biggest in the region after Guwahati.

Agartala Book Fair started in the year 1981 and is the only state government-sponsored fair in the country.
