The BJP campaign turned high profile in the state today with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and NEDA convener and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma drumming up support for key party candidates.
While both Sarma and Rajnath Singh exuded confidence of a clean sweep for BJP in Manipur, they completely dismissed the Congress challenge in the poll-bound state terming the party insignificant.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while speaking exclusively to Northeast Live said that the BJP has no rival in this election.
CM Sarma further said that Congress has given a walkover to BJP in the polls and will be reduced to single digits.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also predicted a Congress-mukt Manipur post-elections.
Rajnath said that the grand old party has lost its relevance. The defence minister predicted at least 50 seats for BJP and allies.
Manipur will go for polls in two phases. The first phase will be held on February 28 and the second on March 5.
The vote counting will take place on March 10.
