On the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was spotted dressing a Leirum Phee (Lengyan), a stole from Manipur.
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh thanked Prime Minister Modi for representing the state’s culture and tradition in front of the world and showering immense affection on the Northeast region.
“On this 73rd Republic Day, our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji once again adorn his favourite Leirum Phee (Lengyan). What a moment of great pride for all of us,” CM Biren Singh tweeted.
Meanwhile, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also expressed his gratitude towards PM Modi for wearing the ‘Lengyan’ n the occasion of 73rd Republic day and for always showering the North East with love and blessings.

“Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi wears the stole from Manipur on the occasion of 73rd republic day and honours the tradition of the North East. Much gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister for always showering immense affection and blessings on the North East,” CM Biplab Kumar Deb tweeted.
Besides, the Prime Minister today also wore a traditional cap from Uttarakhand instead of his traditional turban.
The Prime Minister’s cap is embossed with the Brahma kamal flower.
The Brahma kamal is Uttarakhand’s state flower, and Prime Minister Modi uses it whenever he performs pooja at Kedarnath.
It may be mentioned that earlier on many occasions, the Prime Minister was spotted wearing dresses or accessories from different Indian states.
Last year while taking the Covid-19 vaccination shot, the Prime Minister was seen wearing Assamese ‘Gamosa‘ from the Northeastern state Assam.
