In a huge success for security forces in Mizoram, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police recovered a huge consignment of warlike stores from General Area Zawngling, Saiha district today. The team also detained three people.

The operation was carried out based on specific information. Nearly 2,500 kilogrammes of explosives, detonators, and detonating fuses, as well as 73 thousand Indian rupees and 9 lakh Myanmar Kyat, were recovered during the operation. The items and the three detained individuals were handed over to Mizoram Police for further legal proceedings.

It needs to be mentioned here that the ongoing smuggling of weapons and warlike stores has been a major cause of concern for Mizoram, especially along the Indo- Myanmar border.
