In a major breakthrough, two active cadres of the proscribed Manipur-based outfit Kangleipak Communist Party-People’s War Group were apprehended by a team of Imphal West commandos.

One of the cadres was apprehended in Kyamgei Shantipur Awang Leikai, while the other was apprehended on the Manipur University campus.

The arrested cadres have been identified as Wahengbam Mathoi and Bhushan Longjam.

Upon interrogation, the duo revealed that they were working under the command of the self-styled Chairman of the outfit, Bajimacha.

According to reports, both the cadres were involved in extortion activities in the area and were used to target the general public, businessmen, and government employees, among others.

The team recovered three mobile handsets and one 9mm pistol, along with one magazine, 2.32 pistols, a laptop, and other incriminating materials.

Meanwhile, the arrested cadres along with the seized articles have been handed over to Irilbung PS for further proceedings.
