India’s Omicron tally approaching 2000 mark

A total of 1,892 cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 have been reported from across 23 states and union territories so far. 766 of the total cases of Omicron have recovered or migrated.

Maharashtra has topped the list with 568 cases, followed by Delhi (382), Kerala (185), Rajasthan (174), Gujarat (152), and Tamil Nadu (121), Telangana (67), Karnataka (64), Haryana (63), Odisha (37), West Bengal (20), Andhra Pradesh (17), Madhya Pradesh and others.

In the past 24 hours, India has reported 37,379 fresh cases of Covid-19 bringing the tally to 3,49,60,261.

India’s active caseload currently stands at 1,71,830. Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.49%.

Meanwhile, 11,007 patients infected with the virus recovered in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of recoveries stands at 3,43,06,414

The recovery rate is currently at 98.13%

Meanwhile, as the central government revises international travel, testing, containment, and surveillance guidelines in response to omicron concerns, states have begun aggressively implementing counter-measures as covid cases have begun to rise at a rate consistent with the recent global surge.
