Assam Girl brings laurels to the state, becomes ISRO Scientist

Assam girl Najneen Yasmin has brought laurels for the state as well as the rest of the Northeast after she was recognized as a scientist of the Indian Space Research

Assam girl Najneen Yasmin has brought laurels for the state as well as the rest of the Northeast after she was recognized as a scientist of the Indian Space Research Organization or ISRO.

Najneen, who hails from the Juriya Maheripar village in Nagaon, is the daughter of Abdul Kalam Azad and Manjila Begum, both teachers at the Kadamoni Town High School.

It is learnt that Najneen used to study for at least 8 hours daily and took inspiration from the late Kalpana Chawla. Expressing her happiness on her achievement Najneen said “Becoming a scientist is unexpected but I am very happy. I studied for nearly eight to ten hours for the day every day.” The good news has made Najneen’s parents as well as the locals of her village swell with pride.

Najneen was amply support by her husband in her pursuit of becoming a scientist who credited his wife’s hard work for the success. “The time I have known Najneen she has worked very hard for it.”
