Guwahati priest found dead in Paltan Bazar, investigation underway

Guwahati registers its 7th murder case in a span of 2 months after the body of a man was recovered from the Paltan Bazar area in Guwahati on Thursday night.

Guwahati registers its 7th murder case in a span of 2 months after the body of a man was recovered from the Paltan Bazar area in Guwahati on Thursday night. A body of a man was recovered. The deceased have been identified as Narayan Chakraborty, who was a priest of Kalibari Mandir here. Chakraborty was allegedly murdered in a residential area at Paltan Bazar’s  Kalibari Railway colony.

As per initial reports, visible wounds were spotted on the body of the deceased. The petrators of Narayan Chakrabarty are yet to be identified.

According to a preliminary investigation, Narayan Chakraborty was called by his friend Sanjiv Chaudhaury a railway employee who lives in the quarter. Chaudhaury reportedly asked to look after his house while he was gone to celebrate Chhath Puja. Locals have claimed that both Sanjiv and Narayan were close friends. However, an investigation by Guwahati police, a CID, Assam, is underway.

Earlier, in a sensational case of murder, a chopped body of a woman was recovered from a drain underneath the Khanapara flyover. The incident has sent shockwaves across the area.

Also, an elderly couple were murdered at their residence in Chandan Nagar area Survey, Guwahati. The couple was allegedly brutally murdered by robbers who barged into their house on the night of October 25, Monday. The husband-wife pair has been identified as Noni Gopal Baruah (86) and Mina Baruah (76).
