Mizoram a state of concern, says NITI Ayog as COVID-19 cases continue to rise

The centre on Thursday expressed concerns over the COVID-19 situation in Mizoram. NITI Aayog Chairman VK Paul said that the state is concern and emphasized that there is a need to maintain utmost caution against any upsurge COVID cases.

The NITI Aayog chairman also urged everyone to remain careful in the coming quarter.

VK Paul added that Mizoram is in the list of states having more than 10 thousand active cases besides Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

It may be mentioned that the state reported 1402 new COVID cases today with a test positivity rate of 12.10 percent.

Aizawl registered the highest number of 779 cases, followed by 265 in Siaha and 78 in Serchhip district.

Among the fresh cases, 242 children were among the newly-infected. The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 13,973.
