Former Meghalaya Chief Minister and leader of opposition Mukul Sangma has made a startling claim that militants from the National Democratic Front of Boroland outfit are active in the Garo and West Khasi Hills districts.
Sangma has said that NDFB militants trained in Assam are active in the Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills district. He also said that the militants are even trying to lure the local youths into their activities.
The former Meghalaya chief minister also said that the state government must take note of the matter and act on it. Sangma also said that the illegal coal trade in the state is attracting the militants into the state.
It is to be noted that recently two live IEDs were recovered at Tikrikilla town and the police are still probing if they are connected to any militant outfit.
