Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan took the political plunge and formally announced the name of his party at a mega rally in Madurai yesterday.

Haasan said his party will be known as ‘Makkal Neethi Maiyam’, meaning Centre for People’s Justice. Incidentally, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also attended the mega rally in which the actor announced the name of his party.

Earlier yesterday, the actor started his journey from Rameswaram where he visited Late President APJ Abdul Kalam’s residence and sought the blessings of the his elder brother. Before leaving Rameswaram, Haasan also visited Kalam’s memorial and paid homage to him.
