The Supreme Court has finally announced its verdict into the Cauvery river water dispute saying that no one state can claim ownership of a river.
The Apex Court first pulled up Karnataka for its repeated defiance in flouting its orders for releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu and then announced the verdict according to which, Karnataka will provide Tamil Nadu with 177 TMC of Cauvery water and will get 14.75 TMC of additional water.
After the verdict, Karnataka called it a “balanced verdict” and said it’s “very happy” with the allocation given to it by the Supreme Court as Bangalore’s water crisis will be greatly eased due to the allocation.
Bengaluru city, which was facing water shortage, alone will get additional 4.7 TMC water.
