World champion PV Sindhu on Friday reached the semi-finals at the Olympics for the second straight time. The star Indian shuttler defeated Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the women’s singles event to reach the semi-finals at Tokyo Olympics.

Sindhu defeated Yamaguchi with a scoreline of 21-13, 22-20. The quarterfinal clash between Sindhu and Yamaguchi lasted for 56 minutes.

The ace shuttler maintained her composure, winning the first game 21-13. She got a tough fight from Yamaguchi in the second game but she toiled hard and Sindhu ended up winning the match.

This marks Sindhu’s 4th consecutive straight games victory in the Tokyo Olympics.

On July 31, PV Sindhu will face either World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan or World No. 6 Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in the semis.
