The Centre on Monday provided a massive boost to road infrastructure in Manipur with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari laying base for 16 National Highway projects besides inaugurating the crucial Makru bridge along the Imphal-Jiribam road.

Besides, the Union Road Transport and Highway Minister also sanctioned additional projects worth crores at the request of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

Addressing the gathering at the City Convention Centre Imphal after laying base for the 16 new highway projects worth Rs 4,148 crores, Gadkari said the projects are part of the Centre’s bid to make Manipur one of the most economically viable states.

“Under the guidance of Hon’ PM @narendramodi Ji & Hon’ Union Minister, @nitin_gadkari Ji, the BJP led Govt. in Manipur will always strive to deliver world class infrastructure & fulfil the aspirations of the people,” CM Biren Singh tweeted.
