Continuing its war on drugs, the Guwahati Police on Friday seized a huge quantity of Yaba tablets worth around Rs. 2 crore from a truck in Jorabat area.

Based on a tip-off, police intercepted the truck at Jorabat and seized the drugs from the vehicle. Three drug traffickers have been apprehended in connection with the seizure.

The truck, bearing registration number AS 01 EC 5478, was coming from Mizoram to Guwahati. During checking, police recovered 50,000 Yaba tablets which were concealed in different packets.

It may be noted that Guwahati has become a hub of international drug dealers in the recent times. Drugs from Myanmar, Mizoram and Manipur have been transported via Guwahati to different parts of Assam as well as the country.
