A two-member high-level multi-disciplinary team of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare deputed to assist Arunachal Pradesh in fighting the novel coronavirus and managing the outbreak, arrived at the Lilabari airport on Monday night.
The team comprising of Dr Sanjay Sadhukhan, Professor of the All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, Kolkata and Dr Somesh Thakur, Associate Professor, Pulmonary Medicine, AIIMS, will submit their recommendations to strengthen the efforts to control the pandemic.
The central two member team visited the Directorate of Health Services in Naharlagun. Deliberations on integrated Covid Control Centres, strengthening of data analysis unit; modes of testing; formulation of guidelines for those undergoing home isolation; strengthening of district hospitals with necessary facilities; ongoing vaccination drive topped the agenda.
Last week, the Central government had rushed expert teams to six states – Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Manipur showing an increase in COVID-19 cases.
The teams sent to each state comprises two members – a clinician and a public health expert, who will assess the overall management of the outbreak, particularly testing, surveillance and containment operations, and monitor the enforcement of Covid-safe behaviour among the public.
