Eastern Army Commander calls on Mizoram Chief Minister

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga was called upon by Lt. Gen. Manoj Pande, AVSM, VSM, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command at his office on Monday.
The Chief Minister and the visiting GOC-in-EC discussed important issues relating to border security, environment and the ongoing fight against COVID-19. The GOC-in-EC applauded the efforts of the Mizoram government in its handling of the pandemic.
CM Zoramthanga was appreciative of the cordial relations between Assam Rifles and the State Government and hoped that good efforts of Assam Rifles will continue in the coming days.
The Army commander recommended that there should be joint monitoring and management of illegal influx to avoid discrepancies in refugee data. The Army commander conveyed to the Chief Minister that Assam Rifles will work hand in hand with state government to promote all the central and state government schemes and enhance the living standards of the people of the hinterland.
Lt. Gen. Manoj Pande, on his maiden visit to Mizoram was accompanied by Lt Gen JP Mathew, AVSM, VSM, GOC, 3 Corps. Maj. Gen Ranjit Singh, SM, VSM, IG Assam Rigles (East) and Brig Digvijay Singh, SM, DIG, 23 Sector, Assam Rifles were also present at the meeting.
