The opposition Congress in Meghalaya has demanded an inquiry into the alleged food grain scam involving the Shillong division of FCI, which was recently unearthed by the Assam Police in Boko.
Senior Meghalaya Congress leader, Ampareen Lyngdoh described the seizure of over one lakh rice bags of the Food Corporation of India, Shillong from a private godown in Assam’s Boko as shocking.
Lyngdoh added that the state government should get the matter probed by a high-level committee as the food grain was allocated and designated for Meghalaya but diverted to the private market.
Lyngdoh termed the act as a violation on the rights of the people of Meghalaya.
It may be mentioned that the Assam Police had unearthed a massive foodgrain scam involving Meghalaya by seizing one lakh bags of rice of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), Shillong from a private godown in Assam’s Boko.
The seizure was made after locals had reported suspicious movement of 13 trucks in the area.
