Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh have apprehended a Self Styled cadre of NSCN-IM during a joint operation in Changlang district.

Based on input regarding movement of NSCN-IM operatives in the area, the joint team of Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh police launched a special operation at Therimkan village in Nampong circle on May 9.

The arrested cadre has been identified as Self-Styled Sergeant Anong Singpho alias Nongpion (29), who is a resident of Inthem village in Assam’s Tinsukia district.

Security agencies recovered 9 mm pistol, ammunition, Chinese made hand grenade, cloth smeared with raw opium, some cash and other incriminating documents from his possession.

As per sources, the cadre was taking refuge in one of the houses of Therimkhan village, 3 km from Nampong.

The team carried out a search operation in a suspected house, from where the cadre was apprehended.  During interrogation, the individual identified himself as a SS sergeant of the outfit.
