Manipur CM issues advisory to legislators in wake of surge in COVID-19 cases

In view of the surge in COVID-19 cases in Manipur, state chief minister N Biren Singh has issued an advisory instructing all cabinet ministers, legislators and government functionaries to refrain from organizing, participating or promoting any public functions or events.
Meanwhile, night curfew is also in place in the state from 7 pm to 5 am daily.
Besides this, mass vaccination drives are also being held at different primary health centers and district Hospitals.
The health department has further advised all persons above 45 years to get vaccinated immediately. So far, 1 lakh 6 thousand 284 persons have been vaccinated in the state.
State health Director K Rajo has informed that the sudden spike in Covid cases is alarming and that it’s high time to take self precautions by following the SOPs. He also informed that the state has sufficient vaccine stock and appealed the public to join the mass vaccination.
72 new Covid positive cases have been reported from Manipur taking the positive cases tally in the state to 29,721. The active cases tally in the state stands at 255 with 29,090 patients recovering from the disease so far.
