Myanmar national held with heroin worth Rs. 22 lakh Mizoram

In a joint operation, the anti-narcotic squad of the state excise and narcotics department along with Assam Rifles troops seized 762 gms of heroin on Thursday and arrested a peddler from the outskirts of Ngharchhip village in Mizoram’s Hnahthial district.

The accused has been identified as Boih Nun Chungm (26), a resident of Leisen village in Myanmar. He was booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

The contraband estimated to be worth over Rs 22 lakh was smuggled from Myanmar.

Smuggling of contraband items from Myanmar has become a major issue of concern in the state.
