In a major breakthrough for the Assam forest department, a notorious poacher/smuggler of rhino horn was arrested in Arunachal Pradesh. The poacher identified as Jobi Gadi was nabbed from Naharlagun
In a major breakthrough for the Assam forest department, a notorious poacher/smuggler of rhino horn was arrested in Arunachal Pradesh.
The poacher identified as Jobi Gadi was nabbed from Naharlagun area in a joint operation by Biswanath Wildlife Division of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) and Assam police, along with the help of Arunachal Pradesh police.
Since 2011, he had been associated with the smuggling of rhino horns from Kaziranga and other parts of the northeast and sold them into international markets.
Currently, Jobi is in the custody of the forest officials and is being interrogated.
Assam is home to the largest population of greater-one horned rhinos, with a total of 2657 rhinos.
