In yet another successful crusade against smuggling activities, the Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) recovered 189 grams of heroin from Bethlehem Veng area of Aizawl in Mizoram.
Based on specific information, an operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles, 19 FIT, Excise & Narcotics Dept and YMA, Bethlehem on Sunday.
The approximate cost of the heroin is estimated to be around Rs 75,60,000. The Excise and Narcotics department detained three individuals along with the recovered contraband item.
It may be mentioned that rampant smuggling activities along the India-Myanmar Border have been a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram for quite some time now.
