Nagaland Chief Secretary Temjen Toy breathed his last at 4 pm on Thursday after a long battle with cancer. He passed away at his residence in Kohima and was 57 years
Nagaland Chief Secretary Temjen Toy breathed his last at 4 pm on Thursday after a long battle with cancer. He passed away at his residence in Kohima and was 57 years old.
He was suffering from lung cancer and has been undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital.
Toy, who took charge as the Nagaland chief secretary in March 2018, is a 1989 batch IAS officer.
The IAS officer is survived by his wife and 2 sons, and 2 daughters. He was born in January 1964.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio took to Twitter to express his grief over Toy’s demise and offered condolences to his family.
“I am extremely saddened at the passing away of @temjentoy, Chief Secretary of Nagaland. He was a humble, upright and dedicated government servant. His death is a huge loss for the Govt. of Nagaland & for the Nagas as a whole. Heartfelt condolences to his family. May his soul RIP,” Rio tweeted.

Governor RN Ravi also expressed his shock over the demise of Temjen Toy. He termed Toy as an efficient administrator and one of the finest human being.
“Extremely sad and shocked to know that Shri @temjentoy is no more with us. We lost an able administrator and one of the finest human being! May his soul rest in peace. May God give strength to family to bear with this devastating tragedy.” Raj Bhavan Kohima tweeted.
