The state of Meghalaya on Tuesday released a commemorative postal stamp dedicated to the historic Raj Bhavan of Shillong as part of the 72nd Republic Day celebrations.

Governor Satya Pal Malik, accompanied by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma unveiled the commemorative postal stamp at Raj Bhavan in Shillong.

Taking to Twitter CM Conrad Sangma shared the news of the release, “Alongside the Hon’ble Governor, Sh. Satya Pal Malik, released a commemorative postal stamp which is dedicated to the historic Raj Bhavan of Shillong as part of the #RepublicDay2021 celebration at Raj Bhavan, Shillong.”

Earlier today in Shillong, Governor Satya Pal Malik unfurled the national flag to mark the occasion and inspected the parade contingents. 

Meanwhile, CM Conrad Sangma, the chief guest of the programme felicitated the COVID-19 frontline workers of the state on the occasion of Republic Day. Awards were also distributed to the winners of the Meghalaya Day awards and the best tableau display.

“As part of the 72nd #RepublicDay Celebration in #Shillong, Hon’ble Governor unfurled the National Flag & inspected parade contingents. Today, #Covid19 Frontliners were felicitated & awards were distributed for the winners of the Meghalaya Day Awards & the tableau display,” CM Sangma said in another tweet.

India is celebrating its 72nd Republic Day today, the day its Constitution came into force in 1950.
