Many new faces are likely to get Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tickets for the upcoming Assam assembly elections, indicated North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor and Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“Definitely, there are so many new workers. There must be some changes. But the percentage of changes is not yet decided,” said Sarma after he had attended a meeting with BJP national president JP Nadda on Monday. The meeting which discussed the BJP’s strategies for the assembly elections was also attended by chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass.
While talking to reporters, Sarma termed BJP’s selection process of candidates as plain and simple.
“The process of selecting candidates in BJP is plain and simple….But we have been trying to read the minds of our workers,” said Sarma.
He added that leaders with a possibility to win will get the party tickets.
“There is no categorisation of new and old workers. Everyone is a respectful BJP worker. Leaders with a possibility to win and who can promote the ideals of the BJP will get tickets,” Sarma added.
