Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday said that the ravaging wildfire in Dzukou valley is likely to be under control on the Manipur side in a day or two.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live Editor-in-Chief Wasbir Hussain, the Chief Minister stated that most of the fire has been doused. However, the wildfire still persists in the steep areas that is mostly covered by dense forests.

In this regard, Chief Minister N Biren Singh also informed that he has personally requested the Indian Air Force (IAF) to concentrate in dousing the fire in those areas. He highlighted that the IAF had sprayed some amount of water in the area early morning today and that the fire should be under control by tomorrow.

He further said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is in constant touch with him and monitoring the situation.
