Preparations are underway in Imphal ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Manipur visit on Sunday.

“Manipur is ready to welcome Amit Shah ji. He is a true friend of Manipur and the key person behind ILP (Inner Line Permit) being extended to State,” said Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

Launching the BJP’s Assembly poll campaign in Assam, Amit Shah on Saturday addressed a huge gathering at Amingaon near Guwahati and also laid the foundation stone for various development projects.

The Kamrup rally is the BJP’s formal launch of the party’s campaign for next year’s Assam assembly polls.

In the evening, the senior BJP leader chaired a meeting with Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal, State Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Secretary, DGP and other senior officials of Assam to review the law and order situation of the State.

The Union Home Minister, who is on a three-day visit to Assam and Manipur, reached Guwahati on late Friday night.
