The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has demanded for the speedy implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state of Meghalaya.
Speaking to mediapersons, HYC President Robert Kharjarin said that the implementation of ILP in India is nothing new and it has been there during the British times.
Kharjarin said that to take the Centre almost a year to study the ILP system is something that won’t go right with the sentiment of the people of the state of Meghalaya and this has already been implemented in four states of Northeast.
Kharjarin also added that the HYC had hoped that the State and Central Government would have taken time to deliberate on this issue during the lockdown period, but no communication as such has come from the Centre or the home ministry.
The HYC president said that too much time is being taken in this regard. Kharjarin said that the organisation would take to the streets and protest of the ILP is not implemented in the state soon.
