A 52-year old man from Assam’s Karimganj district has become the first from the state to test positive for COVID-19. The man’s sample had tested positive in Silchar Medical College

A 52-year old man from Assam’s Karimganj district has become the first from the state to test positive for COVID-19.

The man’s sample had tested positive in Silchar Medical College and Hospital and was sent for a second test to National Institute of Virology, Pune where it was confirmed as COVID-19 positive.

As per reports, the man had recent travel history to Guwahati. He is currently undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College Hospital and his condition is said to be stable.

Meanwhile, The development has been confirmed by Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Taking to Twitter, Sarma announced that the person is now undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

“His condition is stable,” minister Sarma stated in his Tweet.
