Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured a delegation led by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma that the Centre is examining the resolution passed by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly for the implementation of Inner Line Permit in the State.
The delegation led by Chief Minister Sangma which included members of his MDA alliance met with Home Minister Shah on Thursday.
The delegation comprised of Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Sports Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh, Urban Affairs Minister Hamletson Dohling, and KHNAM representative Adelbert Nongrum among others.
In the forty minute meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah, the delegation was assured that the Centre will never allow dilution of tribal rights.
Apart from the issue of ILP, different pressing issues of the state including development, especially of border areas, and improving the overall inland security were also discussed during the meeting.
The Meghalaya government delegation expressed its satisfaction with the meeting and has informed that the Centre has shown its serious concern for the people and they were really very positive about the outcomes.
