A suspected case of novel coronavirus has been admitted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Friday.

The woman, who came to India from China on February 6 was admitted to GMCH after she complained of mild fever.

According to a source in the health department, the patient is under surveillance of doctors in an isolated ward of the hospital.

Although there is no confirmation as yet, all necessary examinations are being conducted to ensure proper treatment.

It maybe mentioned, not a single positive case from Assam has been reported till date although around 56 persons who had travel history of China have been identified and are kept under observation.
