Arunachal Pradesh DGP RP Updahya is personally monitoring the security scenario ahead of the by-elections to the Khonsa West constituency slated to be held on October 21.
A total of 13 companies of the Central Armed Paramilitary Force have been deployed in addition to police personnel to ensure free and fair elections.
According to top sources, security forces including the Army and the Assam Rifles are carrying out counter insurgency operations based on specific inputs related to movements of underground groups in the area.
It may be mentioned, that the Khonsa west by-polls is sensitive as Chakat Aboh, who is the wife of assassinated NPP MLA Tirong Aboh is in the fray.
The NPP MLA along with 10 others were shot dead from point blank range by unidentified gunmen at Bogapani on May 21, just a day before the announcement of Lok Sabha and state assembly election results on May 23.
