Two out of the four candidates who had filed their nominations for the Khonsa West by-polls have withdrawn their candidature.
Yumsem Matey and Wangchu Lowang are the ones to have stepped out of the poll battle leaving now only contenders for the seat. Chakat Aboh now has to get past Azet Homtok to emerge victorious.
A total of 115 polling personnel would be engaged for the conduct of the by-poll in 23 polling stations in the constituency.
Chakat Aboh, the widow of former NPP MLA Tirong Aboh, is being backed by five major political parties, including the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.
The by-poll to the seat was necessitated after Tirong Aboh, who contested the April 11 Assembly election as the NPP nominee and got re-elected, was gunned down by suspected NSCN militants just two days before the poll results.
