Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren announced that seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the killing of two migrant workers in Kakching district on December 14.
CM Biren said that the perpetrators might have been influenced by certain groups aiming to create tension in the state and tarnish its image. He also accused some groups of politicising the incident to cause unrest.
The Chief Minister further alleged that misinformation had been fed to Central leaders by certain agencies regarding the ongoing violence in Manipur, which he believes is a significant reason for the state’s suffering over the past 19 months.
Chief Minister Singh had strongly condemned the incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the deceased.
