The Kamrup Metropolitan District and Sessions court has awarded death penalty to Gobind Singhal who was convicted in the sensational Shweta Agarwal murder case.

On the other hand, Gobind’s mother Kamala Devi Singhal and sister Bhavani Singhal have been sentenced to life imprisonment.

The big development comes at a time when Shweta’s family has been demanding death penalty for the guilty trio.

On July 30, the court had held main accused Govind Singhal, his mother Kamala Devi and his sister Bhavani Singhal, guilty in the spine chilling murder case.

Gobind Singhal had murdered Shweta on December 4 in 2017 and a day later on December 5, Shweta’s half charred body was recovered from Govind’s Bharalumukh residence.

It is to be noted that Shweta was a student of K.C. Das Commerce College and had been one of the toppers in the Higher Secondary exams of 2015.
