Demand for speedy framing of strict guidelines for private schools gets shriller in Manipur

Demanding immediate justice for a 13-yr-old minor who was found hanging in a mysterious condition in her school hostel room, a mass solidarity meet was organised on Monday at Keisampat Lairembi community Hall in Imphal West.

The solidarity meet was organised by Manipur Alliance for Child Rights, Child Rights & You or CRY including various stakeholders such as civil society bodies and students’ union.

Speaking during the solidarity meet, MACP Convenor Montu Ahanthem has urged the Manipur govt to enforce regulatory guidelines provided by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights for educational institutes and hostels in the state in order to ensure safe environment for children.

The convenor further demanded the govt to expedite the process of implementing the Child Rights Protection Policy which was drafted by the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights in 2017.
