During a routine check, the Guwahati Govt Railway Police on Thursday apprehended two women and a man from a Rajdhani express train and seized around 175 small pouches containing 34,000, 100 intoxicating Yaba tablets from their possession.
According to reports, the two ladies identified as Soma Paul and Sangeeta Modak were supposed to transport the consignment from Dimapur to Alipurduar in West Bengal for its further delivery to Bangladesh.
The value of the tablets has been estimated to be Rs 34 lakh. Meanwhile, a case has been registered in this connection by the Guwahati Railway Police under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and an investigation is underway.
