A section of members of the Meghalaya Cabinet including ministers AL Hek, Banteidor Lyngdoh and Samlin Malngiang have submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to include Khasi language in the 8th Schedule.

The Meghalaya State ministers submitted the memorandum to the Prime Minister during their visit to New Delhi and also requested him to provide constitutional recognition to Khasi.

A discussion on the inclusion of Garo language also took place where Tura MP Agatha Sangma was present.
