Reiterating India’s stand, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that there are eyewitness accounts and electronic evidence that Pakistan had deployed F-16 aircraft and that one F-16 was shot down by Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s MiG 21 Bison.

He also said that India has asked the USA to examine whether the use of F-16 against India is in accordance with terms and conditions of sale.

Kumar reiterated that India had not escalated tensions with Pakistan in the wake of the Indian Air Force strike on Balakot and called the operation a non-military mission.
