Chief Minister Khandu also chaired an emergency cabinet meeting to discuss the current crisis and the chalk out the strategy forward for the government.

In a bid to diffuse the crisis, Khandu held a meeting with leaders of close to 17 communities and civil society organisations at his office today.

During the meet Khandu conveyed the state government’s stand on granting of Permanent Resident Certificate to non-Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribes adding that the cabinet has no plans of pursuing the matter further.

Taking to social media after the meet, Khandu thanked the community based organisations and civil society organisations for turning up for the crucial meeting.

Meanwhile, Army conducted a flag march for the third day in a row in a bid to restore normalcy. Apart from reports of stray incidents of violence, the day was comparatively peaceful in the Arunachal capital.

It may be mentioned that as many as three protesters have died in clash with police after violence erupted during anti-PRC protests in Itanagar on Friday.

While one protester died on Friday, two others were killed in police firing yesterday. The protesters were opposing the government’s move to table a report on granting of PRC to non-Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribes by the Joint High Power Committee in the assembly.
