The government plans to maintain records for all 38 lakh residents while upholding strict data confidentiality.

Meghalaya has emerged as the leading state in healthcare budget allocation, dedicating nearly 9% of its total expenditure to the sector. Announcing this milestone at the inauguration of the Apollo Trinity Medical Centre in Shillong’s Lower Nongrim Hills, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma also unveiled plans to digitise patient records across the state, starting with Ri Bhoi district.

This digital initiative aims to create a comprehensive online system where doctors can access complete patient histories, ensuring seamless healthcare delivery.

The government plans to maintain records for all 38 lakh residents while upholding strict data confidentiality. Additionally, predictive models will be developed to improve healthcare interventions and optimise treatment costs.

Highlighting Meghalaya’s commitment to quality healthcare, CM Sangma stated that the Apollo Trinity Medical Centre, in collaboration with Apollo, would offer expert consultations and advanced diagnostics.

The facility will provide OPD services, ECG, TMT, echocardiography, pulmonary function tests, ultrasound, x-ray, dental care, ophthalmology, physiotherapy, and a fully integrated laboratory linked with Apollo Diagnostics.

“The health sector has been a priority for our government. From rural healthcare to medical infrastructure, we have made significant progress. This facility will bridge gaps in our medical ecosystem and bring quality healthcare closer to the people,” said CM Sangma.
